Biography & Research Interests

Todd started his hydrogeology career for a small environmental consulting firm in Eau Claire, WI. He worked on contaminated soil and groundwater sites throughout Wisconsin. After three years working as a consultant, he went to grad school out east. Completed his degree in 2001 and then worked for a research branch of the US Army Corps of Engineers called Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory (CRREL). CRREL is based out of Hanover, NH, but he did most of his work up in Fairbanks, AK. He worked on a fractured bedrock site that was contaminated. He used many methods to investigate the site including oriented core, shallow seismics, downhole geophysics, packer testing, wellCAD analysis, and fracture mapping. Also at CRREL, he was able to conduct some glacier research in Glacier Bay, Alaska. After three years at CRREL, Todd went to work in the private sector again for another environmental consulting company based out of Gilford, NH. There he worked to develop large municipal water sources and also many natural spring water sources. He continued to work in the fracture bedrock environment both on clean and contaminated sites in Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia, and Colorado. It is at this consulting company where Todd started to gain experience with collecting surface-water data. In 2010, he was hired in the Ground-Water Investigation Program (GWIP), at the Montana Bureau of Mines and Geology. Here he works mostly with communities throughout Montana that focus on water-resource questions. He focuses mostly on surface-water monitoring, canal leakage, surface-water/groundwater interactions, and aquifer testing. His research interests include those listed as well as fracture hydrogeology and stable water isotopes. From 2014 - 2016, he proudly served as Treasurer, Vice-President, and President for the Montana Section of the American Water Resources Association. He is a licensed Professional Geologist in New Hampshire and a Green Bay Packers Owner.
