Biography & Research Interests

I am a research hydrogeologist working with the Ground Water Characterization Program. My research interest includes regional-scale geologic framework and how the framework influences the groundwater flow and quality. I am also interested in mountain-mass recharge and the interaction between mountain masses and adjacent intermontane basins. I answer a never-ending stream of phone calls from the public mostly concerning the availability of groundwater at particular locations and potential well depths and water quality. In the more geologically-challenging areas of the state, water-well drillers will seek advice from me concerning the potential availability and quality of groundwater at a customer's site; some areas within Montana do not yield ground of suitable quantity or quality.
