Biography & Research Interests

Sierra is an economic geologist at the MBMG, where she conducts field-based critical mineral studies and works on EarthMRI and data preservation projects. She is deeply interested in understanding the distribution and formation of critical minerals on Earth. Her past research includes studying Serpentines and Chromites in the Baltimore Mafic Complex and mapping the Potomac Piedmont with the Maryland Geological Survey. She has also researched Ophiolites in Baltimore and Samail, Oman, to explore critical metal depletion and the formation of Platinum Group Minerals (PGMs). Outside of work, Sierra enjoys hiking, white-water rafting, bungee jumping, skydiving, listening to live music, archery, ceramics, collecting rocks, and traveling.
